The reinforcements are here: on Friday, September 1, 2023, 149 new employees were welcomed to Wuppertal Police Headquarters. Among them are 123 newly appointed inspectors who are looking forward to their first assignment in the Bergisch city-triangle after successfully completing their training.
This year, 53 of the new recruits will be deployed in the Wuppertal police station, 17 in the Solingen police station and 20 in the Remscheid police station. A further 32 new recruits will strengthen the Crime Directorate and one officer the Traffic Directorate.
26 officers are transferring from other district police authorities to the various directorates of our authority.
In addition, two administrative officers and 30 government employees have joined the Wuppertal district police authority in the past twelve months.
To welcome the new recruits to the Bergisch city-triangle, Police President Markus Röhrl and the Mayor of Remscheid, Burkhard Mast-Weisz, welcomed the new colleagues at an official ceremony on Friday, 01.09.2023.
Markus Röhrl was delighted with the strong growth, but reminded the new colleagues in particular of the great responsibility they now bear for law and order, society and the protection of the people in the Bergisch city-triangle. Fittingly, each new colleague received a Basic Law to welcome them. "Take a look at it from time to time. Because what it says, especially in Article 1, is as simple as it is ingenious and is probably the most important guiding principle for your profession, your vocation," Röhrl told the new recruits.
Remscheid's Lord Mayor Burkhard Mast-Weisz looked to the past by referring to the first meeting of the Parliamentary Council 75 years ago today. The constituent assembly of the Federal Republic of Germany had created an excellent foundation with the Basic Law.
"I am very grateful that you, as police officers, have decided to protect the law and ensure people's safety," said Mast-Weisz.
