The district officers have decades of professional experience in a wide range of police work areas. This operational and life experience combined with knowledge of human nature and social skills is the basis for close and trusting contact with the citizens in their districts.
Varied tasks
The members of the district service are the protectors in the city districts and contact persons for a wide range of problems faced by citizens. They often mediate or arrange for important measures to be taken by other authorities or institutions. They also monitor road safety in their districts and help to prevent traffic accidents. In particular after the vacations and when first-graders start school, school route monitoring is carried out in order to exert a positive influence on the behavior of children and other road users.
The district service is also responsible for the enforcement of arrest warrants. In addition, it supports the city with compulsory admissions and the bailiffs with compulsory executions. The district service is also responsible for monitoring bans on return following domestic violence.
Events such as public festivals, music and sporting events and other public gatherings of large groups of people are monitored by the district service. Before critical soccer matches, the district service officers approach "fans" with violent tendencies in order to gain information about their intentions and to address any threats. After crimes such as burglaries and assaults, contact is made with the victims in order to provide aftercare.
